If you are looking for a reason to enjoy a yummy pancake breakfast (or lunch if you prefer – no judgement here!) then you are in luck as Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday as it’s  known as here in Australia is almost here!

So why is it also known as Pancake Tuesday?  Well Shrove Tuesday is the last day before Lent commences and it was traditionally marked by a feast  held on Shrove Tuesday and Pancakes were a dish which were easy to make and a great way to use up perishable ingredients such as eggs, milk and fats.

These No Fail Pancakes are easy to prepare and you will be sitting down to enjoy them in no time on Pancake Tuesday – or any other day of the year!

Celebrate Pancake Day with This No Fail Pancakes Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of self raising flour
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups of milk
  • Some extra butter to grease your frying pan if it's non stick.

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour and salt into a small mixing bowl.
  2. Add the egg and pour in the milk and whisk the mixture together until thick and creamy.
  3. Heat your frying pan to a high heat and approximately one teaspoon of butter.
  4. For even sized pancakes, use a measuring cup (I suggest using a 1/4 cup) to scoop up and pour your batter into the pan.
  5. Allow the pancake to cook for approximately one minute or until bubbles begin to appear on the surface. Flip the pancake and cook on the other side for one minute.
  6. Place cooked pancakes on a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
  7. Continue until you have used all of the mixture.

  10. Mix on speed 4 for 20 seconds or until the mixture is combined and smooth.
  11. Heat your frying pan to a high heat and approximately one teaspoon of butter.
  12. For even sized pancakes, use a measuring cup to scoop up and pour your batter into the pan.
  13. Allow the pancakes to cook for approximately one minute or until bubbles begin to appear on the surface. Flip the pancake and cook on the other side for one minute.
  14. Place cooked pancakes on a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
  15. Continue until you have used all of the mixture.
