Carrie Bickmore Shares A Very Relatable Photo Of What Parenthood Looks Like!

Carrie Bickmore has shared a very real look at what motherhood looks like for her and pretty much every other mum in the world. There’s nothing glamorous about having vomit on your shirt 24 hours a day or being so exhausted you can barely manage to get dressed in the morning.

The 38 year old TV host shared two contrasting photos with her daughter Adelaide to show us how Instagram can give a very warped perception of parenthood. Many photos only show the cleaned up and filtered version of events. They don’t focus on the daily struggles mums and dads go through especially in those early months when you’re barely managing to keep your head afloat.

In one photo, Carrie is seen lying on the couch with baby Adelaide cradled lovingly and peacefully in her arms. The pic looks to have filters added and is cropped to focus on all the good bits.

When you swipe right, the mum-of-three is seen in a totally different light with her legs sprawled on the couch and looking totally knocked out from sheer exhaustion.

“INSTAGRAM verses REALITY (swipe right),” Carrie captioned the photos. “1st pic was taken on a flattering angle, with some props, some casual hand positioning, some clever cropping and a nice little filter added,” she wrote.

“The 2nd was the real moment captured without my knowledge a couple of weeks after Adelaide was born before I woke up and suggested we take a nice shot.”

Not surprisingly, her fans were overcome with praise for the mum who was brave enough to share a very raw and real picture alongside her perfect looking one.

“God I love this so much @bickmorecarrie keeping it real,” one mum wrote.

“That’s most women with or without a new born after a long day/ night,” another said, adding the hashtag “#keepingitreal”.

“Oh you’re amazing. All us women need to know that nobody is perfect and what we see on social media is not always real. Thank you for being so real you are a total inspiration to Australia women,” added another.

Carrie has often shared her experiences of becoming a mum again with partner Chris Walker last year. She often writes about the difficulties of breastfeeding, broken sleep and dealing with reflux.

In a past post, the mum of three shared exactly what life was like with a one month old baby- warts and all! She mentioned “boobtime”, “Late night pram walks”, “Cuddles”, “Arguments”, “Conflicting advice given”, “Struggle with existing 3 year old”, “Hours spent staring at Adelaide”, “Feeling overwhelmed”, “Feeling like it’s all going to be ok”, “Tears of happiness”, “Tears of exhaustion” and “Bursting with love and gratitude.”

Carrie is also mum to three-year-old daughter Evie with Chris, as well as 11-year-old Oliver whom she had with her late husband Greg Lange, who died of cancer in 2010.
