Beverly Hills 90210 Star Luke Perry Has Died Aged 52 Just Days After Suffering A Massive Stroke
Luke Perry has died after suffering a massive stroke last week in LA. The 52 year old Beverly Hills 90210 actor had been in hospital since Wednesday after the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call from the actor’s Sherman Oaks home requesting medical aid.
The actor passed away surrounded by friends and family, according to a statement from his publicist. They included his children, Jack and Sophie, fiancee Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder.
“He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends. The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”
Perry shot to fame playing bad boy Dylan McKay on cult TV show Beverly Hills 90210 which co-incidentally will be airing as a reboot later this year. McKay, with his smouldering eyes, was the antithesis of the clean cut Brandon Walsh played by Jason Priestley. Perry most recently starred on the show Riverdale as the father of Archie.
Perry’s friends tweeted about him while he was in the hospital last week, including 90210 co-star Shannen Doherty.
“My friend. Holding you tight and giving you my strength. You got this,” Doherty said in an Instagram post.
After learning of his tragic death this morning, Perry’s friends have taken to social media to voice their shock and sadness at the sudden loss.
90210 co-star Ian Ziering, who played Steve Sanders on Beverly Hills, 90210, wrote on Instagram, “Dearest Luke, I will forever bask in the loving memories we’ve shared over the last thirty years. May your journey forward be enriched by the magnificent souls who have passed before you, just like you have done here for those you leave behind. God please give him a seat close to to you, he deserves it.”
