Kids Summer of Country Racing
Across 26 race days around regional Victoria, children will receive free entry as Country Racing Victoria celebrates ‘Kids Summer of Country Racing’. Geelong, Penshurst, Wodonga and Nhill will kick off the festivities on Boxing Day, 26th December 2011, with the fun continuing until 26th January 2012. In addition to free entry, children will enjoy a fantastic range of free craft and sporting activities run by Camp Australia including rock climbing, mini golf, parachute games, inflatable obstacle course and face painting. Camp Australia is an organization, dedicated to the development of innovative programs for children that enhance the quality of their lives. COUNTRY RACING - THE FACTS • 75% of all Victoria’s race meetings are held at country race courses • Country racing attracts in excess of 7 00,000 spectators each year to local race courses • Country racing contributes $1.086 billion annually to Victoria and $808 million to regional Victoria • Country racing is responsible for 4,438 equivalent fulltime jobs and 2,837 casual positions across the State • 79% (5,676) of thoroughbred racehorses trained in Victoria are trained in regional Victoria • 58% (11,664) of owners live in regional Victoria, as do 74% (2,865) of breeders • 91% of trainers (1,193) train at country racecourses For details on all race days visit www.countryracing.com.au
