WATCH: The Mother ‘Hood Viral Video

The_Mother_‘Hood_Official_Video_-_YouTube

The minute you become a parent, it seems like the whole world has an opinion on how you should be doing it better, doesn’t it?

Whether it’s your mother-in-laws subtle but scornful look at her grandchild’s disposable-nappy clad bottom as she repeats the stories of how she used to soak her child’s cloth nappies in a bucket…EVERYTIME you see her. Or being asked as you hold your 10 month old to your breast to feed, “Um…how long are you going to do…THAT…for?”

Whether it’s a subtle well-meaning suggestion, or blatant unsolicited advice, every new mum cops her fair unfair share of judgement from others.

The Mums Lounge community has been built on the foundations of support and encouragement, rather than judgement – parenting is not a competitive sport. There is no best way to parent – only the best way for our own family.

The viral video doing the rounds on the internet at the moment “Welcome to the Sisterhood of Motherhood’ sums up our philosophy perfectly – and serves as a poignant reminder to us all that no one gains from dishing out judgement on a fellow parent. We are all want the same thing – the best for our family.

If you haven’t already seen it – it really is a must see. Make sure you watch until the end.

Jolene enjoys writing, sharing and connecting with other like-minded women online – it also gives her the perfect excuse to ignore Mount-Washmore until it threatens to bury her family in an avalanche of Skylander T-shirts and Frozen Pyjama pants. (No one ever knows where the matching top is!) Likes: Reading, cooking, sketching, dancing (preferably with a Sav Blanc in one hand), social media, and sitting down on a toilet seat that one of her children hasn’t dripped, splashed or sprayed on. Dislikes: Writing pretentious crap about herself in online bio’s and refereeing arguments amongst her offspring.
