Sponsored post

Whether you’re throwing a party, planning a picnic or looking for a great lunchbox treat – these pastie rolls and sausage rolls (made with our secret ingredient – Keen’s mustard) are a crowd-pleaser.

Keen’s Mustard Pastie Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
1 small sweet potato, mashed
1 small brown onion, diced
1 medium carrot, diced
2 potatoes, diced
1 large celery stalk, diced
1 tsp vegetable stock powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1-2 tsp Keen’s Mustard Powder
2 sheets short crust pastry
1 Tbs olive oil
(250 g sausage meat optional)
1 egg, beaten (egg wash)

Method
Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
In a heat proof bowl, add roughly diced sweet potato and approximately half cup of water. Cover and cook in microwave on high for approx. 8 minutes until soft. Mash.
In a large frypan, heat olive oil and then add onion, carrot, potato, celery, stock, salt and pepper (and sausage meat, if using).
Cook over medium heat until vegetables start to become soft.
In a large mixing bowl, add cooked vegetable mix to the mashed sweet potato and your Keen’s Mustard Powder and mix well.
On a lined baking tray, place one sheet of shortcrust pastry. Add approximately half of the mixture on to one side of the pasty.
Roll into large roll and seal with egg wash. (The roll should be quite high – 1.5 – 2 inches). Place roll seal-side down.
Brush top with egg wash. You may like to seal the ends if you enjoy eating a crusty short crust handle on your pasties roll!!
Repeat with remaining mixture.
Bake for 20-25 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius, until golden brown.
Enjoy as an after school snack, spring picnic or for an easy dinner.

Can be frozen pre- or post-baking for a quick snack when unexpected guests or a tribe of hungry kids drop in! Simply re-heat at 180 degrees Celsius.
